In this procedure posterior elements of the spine (laminae & spinous processes) are removed to decompress the cervical cord nerves and the vertebrae are fixed with lateral mass screws and rods. This procedure is indicated in patients – Multiple level compression of cervical cord causing cervical myelopathy. Ossified posterior longitudinal ligament, ossified ligamentum flavum Traumatic fractures or tumours Cervical deformities.
